CALLING ON FUTURE MOUNTAINEERS πŸ“²πŸ’›πŸ’™ GEE MAIL

(President Gee)
Hey, Jackson! (Jackson)
Hi! (President Gee)
Alice. (Alice)
Hi! Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to my latest
Gee Mail. As many of us know West Virginia University
is a family unified by gold and blue threads that stretch beyond our campuses. Every year we welcome new members into our family. Today, I will be reaching out to high school
students who could make West Virginia University their next home and I’m going to call some
of these high-achieving high school seniors to see what questions they have for me. So without further ado, let’s go. Now, I need my telephone. What do you think, folks? Phone rings Hey, guys. (President Gee)
You’re in Vermont, is that right? (Alice)
Yeah, all the way in Vermont. Have you visited the campus? Yeah, I did. I loved it! My sister works in admissions, so she kinda… (President Gee)
You’ve been appropriately recruited and acclimated. (Jackson)
Yeah, well informed. (President Gee)
You look like you’re busy, where are you right now? I was at the store, but it’s ok. What is it like to be in Morgantown and thinking about coming to this big university that’s right in your hometown? Oh, I’m really excited. I’m ready to meet new people. I really want a picture with you I want a picture with you! Oh, my gosh that’s crazy. (President Gee) Let’s make it happen! Tell me what you’re planning on studying. I’m planning to study accounting. Oh, great program. You know, and our business school is just on fire. And I don’t mean it’s burning down I mean it’s on fire. I’m from Frederick, Maryland and I’m a
homeschool student. (President Gee)
Are you really? How wonderful! Whoops, did I lose you, Duncan? What questions can I answer for you? How is the college changing? Eighty percent of the jobs we’re training
people for in this country, Duncan, are going to disappear in the next five to ten years. And so what we’re trying to do is we’re trying
to be a forward-thinking university that sees around corners. We’re trying to make this be a university
for this generation. What’s student life generally like at WVU? (President Gee)
It is so fun! This is a great balanced university. We tell everyone work smart, play smart. If you have any questions, I’m here to answer them. But the most important thing, come here and
make us better, okay? Yep, I will. I want to make certain that you know that
we care deeply about you. Large university, but very personal, and I
love these students. I love you. So, I’ll look forward to seeing you, okay? Thank you so much! I’m super excited. (President Gee)
Bye, now. Bye. You have to go out to dinner with me. Okay, yeah. (President Gee)
Will you accept that? I will, yes. (President Gee)
I’m going to promise you that when you come in the fall, that I’m going to have your number and I’m going to call you up and we’re going to go out to dinner together, how does that sound? Oh, my gosh, yes! Oh, it’d be great fun for me, too. You better pinky promise, for that dinner. (President Gee)
Pinky promise, pinky promise! I do that with my grandchildren, so pinky
promise, okay? Have a great day, okay? Thank you! Have a great day. (President Gee)
Thank you, bye now. Now, wasn’t that fun! I often say, if you want to go to a place
searching for prestige, you go elsewhere, but if you’re looking for a place of purpose
West Virginia University is your home. I can assure you that we have a dedicated
team that will help every step of the way as you transition to college life. And once you become a Mountaineer, as they
say, you will always be a Mountaineer. So, I look forward to seeing each of those
wonderful students in the fall. Now, how do I make this stuff work, here. Okay, here we go. Let me start off with this one. I sort of look spectacular. Hercule Poirot. I think I actually look pretty good with ears. Four ears are better than two. There I am, a sleuth. I’m looking at it. Oh! Holy smokes, I am Mick Jagger!
