We use a tool called Blackboard Collaborate. The Collaborate format allows students with all sorts of backgrounds and situations to actively participate in class. Do you have to be on campus? No. Do you have to be in the state of Wisconsin? No. Using Blackboard Collaborate has been really useful so far. I really like how it does a good job simulating the classroom environment online so you have that flexibility to be at home if you have a hectic schedule, which I do with four kids. It was late enough in the night when I was able to get home in time to log on and take the classes or Pam was easy enough to work with where she’d be like, oh, you’re gonna be a few minutes late, that’s fine. I can actually record the class and so then you can watch later on. The digital marketing program really provides a lot of flexibility not just in its delivery but also in the amount of skills that someone wants to obtain. If you complete the first two terms of the program, you are a digital content specialist. If you complete the first three terms then you get the digital marketing specialist technical diploma. Then, if you add the final two, you get the digital marketing associate degree. The topics I found most interesting in digital marketing were understanding the search engine optimization. We would go through Google Adwords and view to understand what those meant and how we could use them for businesses in real time. I am still actually active in the marketing industry so I am doing not only teaching digital marketing, I’m actually doing it for my clients. I really do enjoy the instructors. They have a lot of hands-on experience and they’re very down-to-earth and they’re willing to help you out. Everything that happens in marketing in the digital world, which is very real these days, is gonna be in this program.
