Hakkaido November 2019, day 2: We Hotel, Noboribetsu, Illumination Tunnel (4K)

Good morning guys So this is the view and this is us Now is 8 o’clock in the morning, we woke up early in the morning because we went to bed at 9:00 p.m last there we passed out because we were too tired and now we gonna go for breakfast and Yeah, we will show you the view at the breakfast. This is on the way to the buffet We’ll show you guys what food they have. This is the salad station Moving on that’s a lot of pastries More pastry, the croissant is really good And Cheese Some roasted ham And smoked duck This is corn soup This is the Udon where you put it into pot and cook it They have two kind of soup one is the japanese-style noodle soup based And Japanese curry soup based Here they have keema curry and white rice The bacon and the sausage are gone Kiwi They have to self-made plain yogurt The rest are the juice and coffee. This is the ramen. No, what’s that? Udon? That’s my husband’s breakfast And then breakfast with a view It’s too hungry so we have to eat now look at the snow falling off the tree This is the lobby when we first came in again you have that amazing view And for your architecture fans This building actually is designed by Kengo kuma so Kengo kuma usually is known for his use of natural materials like wood and I think you could see all of the kind of drapery That’s used here. So The walls don’t really feel like walls. You don’t have that hard feeling And actually look starts to look like a bamboo or a forest You can see that here when you look down the hallway This is the cigar bar a whisky assortment and Fantastic lake toya view with all the Kaws sculptures Here, it’s the cigar bar I don’t smoke. It’s been a while since I had a cigar, but I can imagine this place is pretty nice to hang out in With the view with an amazing view is the games room Has catch a game what is that initial D? Dartboards, some vending machines a very sad that’s snack collection This is the hotel gift shop, but it’s not typical gift shop. It has all of the handmade local glassware So you can see the chandelier in our room is also done like this the hand blown glass and all the nice little imperfections and wabi-sabi as Japanese called it Yeah, it’s the same one you can see all the beautiful glass sculpture Some Jeff Koons thought maybe is a real Jeff Koons Not for sale, I think that’s a real Jeff clone maybe not looks plastic But you can see all the beautiful glass pieces See all items for sale except that one that my wife tried to touch so this is the route to the onsen the spa and next to it is the sake bar Or you can have happy hour and in front there is the dining room Right now is about twelve o’clock and we are about to go out to Noboribetsu, and For lake Toya, the surface area is about 70 kilometres So this is how big it is Right now is summer. I mean now it’s winter so you don’t see any boat Usually in summer. They’ll have a boat tour where they will go around the lake This is the lobby’s view We’re about to go out but we need to check some information now, we’re in the car we are going to Tarakoya kojouhama for sushi because we’ve been craving For sushi (hotel served Chinese food 😑) since last night So we are going there in noboribetsu now it will take us about I think should be half an hour an hour, I thought it’s only 45 minutes and Usually they take reservation, but I’ll we don’t have reservation now because we just walk off the hotel The view is so much better today because it’s covered with snow These are our lunch, we drove about an hour to get here 1600 yen The beer is about 500 yen, but it’s a big one not sure if I can finish it (not cold) the meal comes with the o-cha Extra mentaiko, so this place is supposed to be Popular with their mentaiko Now we’re gonna eat! We finished our lunch and that place is meant for mentaiko lover, and I’m not one of them that please what what that place that That place It’s for Mentaiko lover. So if your mentaiko lover you should come here But what is Mentaiko? Mentaiko is cod roe Okay, there’s a video and it shows people cutting it out of the fish and I’ll I like Mentaiko. It’s very salty and has the flavor of the sea but My wife is not a Mentaiko, lover and that place specialize in Mentaiko So my wife doesn’t love that place or for me. I will rate it, hmmmm You six and a half out of ten for me, two out of five for my wife Which is four out of ten. Mmm-hmm and let me show you the view here this is why we put our little blue car and That’s the view of it. The view is quite nice It’s just Really cool, I’m freezing. But um, look at how they built the barrier Yeah breakwater So we are going to Jigokudani (Hell Valley) we are outside of the Hell Valley And it’s really cold and I just got my scarf yesterday that I lost, I almost lost it . Look at the map there’s like a different route and my husband said we would take the yellow wine, which is only ten minutes Okay, look at the road it’s so hilly but uh, it’s only gonna be 10-minute walk. So we’re gonna walk here for ten minute and then we’ll go home The walk is only like one minute away but the yeah, it’s like the black ice on the road and We got oh it’s really slippery, I think we shouldn’t walk on the path It’s about 3:36pm ow and sun is setting we are going to a Family Mart to get a I’ve been craving for chocolate last night So we are going to convenience store to buy something and we will show you guys what they have at the convenience Store I want to buy a CD because The car can only get three radio stations What’s this? For the neck? For bicycle Wow Should we get a mask Because it’s really cool. Well, I need I need facial masks because it’s really dry here. This is for men, you should get this It’s only water Okay, so this is a pretty interesting drink so the concept is that it’s frozen and then add hot water and then you have like a frappe like a Frappuccino or Okay. So this is our favorite section only in Japan is all of the family mark snacks and I specifically like this one which is fish cheese That my wife hates and then the little mini beef jerky and then the salami super processed stuff It’s not that cheap I don’t remember it being this expensive in Tokyo, so maybe this is the Hokkaido markup this is something that they sell at “don don donki” What do you call it donki, but it’s so expensive She’s gonna buy five and then she’s going to eat all five Chocolates are something I’ve been craving for So we’re loading up on all the junk food This collection of chocolate is considerably cheaper So this is the third snack section It looks like it’s the crispy ones and my wife loves crispy stuff So a lot of these these also look not that expensive. Did you get the sweet potato thing? Looks like the most expensive thing is the meat which makes sense meat the cheese The egg salad sandwich is pretty famous for using double the yolk So it’s not one to one ratio, but I think it’s two to one yolk to white We’re gonna try one of these out It costs ¥184 Something about winter (winter brew?) We are just on the way back to the hotel if we forgot that, um, we have to come here for the Illumination tunnel So we just parked our car at the 7-eleven Yeah, and we are going to That store to buy our masks for tonight because it’s really dry here Let’s go We just bought this at Family Mart for Six hundred and eighty something and here sell it.. They sell it for four sixty So remember, okay guys, if you have to buy a body lotion, you should come here No family mart was like 368 how is that similar? So we’re here in lake Toya town for the illumination tunnel We are Five minutes too early. We’ve been waiting. It’s five five fifty five. There’s actually a lot of people waiting. This is what it looks like This is what it looks like without the lights time now Six six Oh Okay So there’s sound and lights We are Okay, we came all the way to lake Toya For this and it’s really really nice and then we have to rush back to Dinner, so we will have to do a quick walk. Let’s walk together So this is the end of it. Um, it’s only like less than five minutes walk, right? we will go back to our hotel and have dinner now (30 minutes drive) Okay, so the timing of the Tunnel starts on November 1st and end on 1st of March They open from 6 o clock until 10 p.m This is our menu for tonight You will notice it specifically says Chinese food menu but again, I think it’s around 7 or 8 courses and Luckily it’s a bit different than yesterday. So we’ll get a little bit of variety what you know how it goes. Okay There’s no explanation tonight. So I guess this is the tempura This is the same veggie roll. And what is this? I think it’s some kind of sea snails sea snail perfect and There’s the pork. No, it looks like roast beef Cosby And we have something different which is omelette (Tamago) yeah, and something Different than yesterday and It looked different, so we’re gotta eat it So sister sashimi supper tonight, and they have the string and the different fish Third course, this would be the Sharkfin? Don’t know real or not? This is supposed to be the dry braised Shelled shrimp with chili sauce looks like the pasta with cheese Eggs Let’s see okay, so follow up the dish is It’s egg underneath but it’s too sweet that both us we don’t like it. Look at my husband’s Usually he will finish whatever it’s on his plate but not this dish Human garbage human garbage can I’m allergic to prawn the system beef dish So I spoke to the server here He told us that um, basically every night they served the same food If you only stay here and one night there you will have basically the same food Everybody would have the same food but just that because we stay more than one night So today we have a different menu, which is an upgraded one This many who cost us what he said. This menu cost Ten thousand yen 😱 Okay, this is the one two three four five six the six course, and it’s the same as yesterday, but yesterday it came with a bowl of Overcooked rice but today it doesn’t have rice. So we don’t know what are we getting next? But um, this is a cauliflower Crab, okay. This is the last secondary dish of today Yesterday was fried rice and today they have the unagi rice. But um, I don’t eat Unagi Oh too bad. I Will have to give it to my husband. You don’t eat Mentaiko either And I want Japanese for those are Japanese food The dessert is same as yesterday. This is coconut pudding and comes with Two pieces of pineapple that you can get at the breakfast. I got four pieces of the pie dough Okay, four pieces of pineapple from the breakfast and two grapes I have only two don’t fight with me Can you give me the review overall review hmm I give this place two and a half mini grapes out of ten Okay, I thought we spoke about the dinner, okay My review of the dinner at this place would be Danielle with a dinner but if you don’t have a better package with you, there’s like no way else around here Which is like you need to drive for like two minutes 30 minutes To the town to get food So if you don’t drive it’s pretty hard for you to stay here and go out and have dinner and feel relaxed Personally for me, I think The the food aspect of this place is the biggest letdown Everything else to design the service the room The tub, even the breakfast was not bad But for the price you’re paying, I think The food is a disappointment sadly drink this now apparently, um, this is a special edition of sapporo here it says Limited edition and I don’t read Japanese, but I do read Chinese So and I’ll we only see it at the Family Mart and we went to 7-Eleven before the Illumination Show and we don’t see it there. So this is what I’ve Found at Family Mart and I only bought two Yeah, I’m gonna drink it now We woke up quite early in the morning 7:45 to have breakfast But my husband got up at 6am because he went to sleep really early last night. So here Did you, did you catch the Sunrise? no, no, but um this morning was snowing it was really nice and now we went to Noboribetsu about today and It was freezing and um today’s dinner again Not up to what we wanted, but I was okay. We went to the Tunnel and we had fun and So tomorrow we will go we have to check out and now we will go to Niseko So see you guys in Niseko, Oh, bye
