IGTV: What It Means for Marketers and Influencers – Social Media Minute

this is Social Media Minute. Instagram has reached one billion users. This has been widely
expected by members of the community and together
with this announcement, of course, they launched
something pretty big, IGTV. It’s a tab on the Instagram app, it’s probably
one of the biggest announcements and launches
they’ve done throughout the years. It allows
not only formats under 15 seconds, now it allows
15 seconds to 1-hour type formats. This is an amazing format for influencers. The question we could have is: “Is this a YouTube killer?” Is this something that could hurt YouTube with the core of influencers over there? IGTV today does not have monetization
launched for these influencers. They might launch that later, it’s gonna be quite interesting to see how influencers’
performance pans out on these platforms. Of course, it’s too early to say but brands will have a huge opportunity
for doing great video formats on this, creating
an amazing ad experience for IGTV. My number one recommendation
to brands, send this to anyone you can, is you have to partner
with the best content creators out there, with influencers,
to help you build up content. I don’t believe today’s marketers
are ready to build their own IGTV. You almost have to have
an Instagram department to do this. Happy hunting
