My name is Joanne Bracken, I work for Three as a digital marketing executive. For me, working on the Three plus loyalty program, I would look after the offers and competitions on the CMS. So I’d make sure that they’re all functioning properly, I am also in charge of reporting on these offers and competitions. Seeing customer engagement – how customers are engaging – whether it’s through the web, whether it’s through the app and then analysing all this information to produce creative ideas on how we can engage with our customers more. Three is a great place to start your career because of the visibility within the Irish market, they sponsor the football team, the 3Arena, the music association there… To be working as a digital marketing executive within such a well-known company is an amazing opportunity. My background was a little different before I came to Three. But I wanted to change and I saw this role as an intern within Three plus – Three’s loyalty program and I thought it was really interesting as loyalty is very important, I think, today. So I applied for the three-month internship and I got great exposure to the company. Within the Three plus loyalty program I gained analytical skills communication skills presenting skills as well, it’s very important to be able to present to senior teams within the organisation. In doing the three-month internship with Three, it really prepared me for my role as digital marketing executive. I think communication skills are useful. Being able to multitask as well, as you have to, you know, if you’re thrown a lot of different things at once then you have to be able to prioritise and to make sure that all your jobs get done. Also to be able to analyse information, so we look at engagement levels of our customers, we look at what offers they’re redeeming, what competitions they’re entering, how they’re entering – whether it’s through the web or whether through the app. So we have to be able to analyse this information. I think, obviously, it’s really important to stay up to date with technology and have a genuine interest in it as well as the digital area is so fast-paced and everything is changing. I’d also say for first-year students to work on presentation skills. This will give you the confidence to be able to stand up in front of your peers in work and to be able to present ideas, to be innovative, to be creative. And I think it’s a very important skill in life to be able to stand in front of people and to be able to give your opinion and your solutions to issues that you’re faced with on a day-to-day basis. I think Three are, they’re a great company to work for. What I find is that they really invest in their staff. So they want you, they’re rooting for you all the time, they want you to progress in your career and they give you the tools to be able to do that. There’s a lot of learning and development days, they also are very good at achieving a work-life balance. So there’s a lot of different initiatives going on to promote social activities. I think the culture of Three is great. It’s a very positive environment. You’re given a lot of support. Within my role, I mean, they allow you to take the responsibility if you’re willing to take it, but at the same time providing guidance and making sure that you’re on the right path and that you’re able to complete your job.
