Mailchimp’s What’s in Store: Georgia Museum of Art


We want everyone who comes in here to be comfortable. You go to one
museum, and you have a good experience, you’re more likely
to go to other. museums and have
a good experience. And then you’re gonna know what it’s like
to be in the presence of a work of art. The museum was founded in 1945 in the basement of what was the old
university library. Now it has 22 galleries and a sculpture garden. Our collection is now about 12,000
works of art. Georgia does not have a lot of arts funding and is 49th out of 50 states. One of the things that we do is we try
to make all our programming free, and we try to take it out of these walls. We have bus tour programs that are free. We have free arts education programs that we send out to libraries and community centers. We have traveling trunks, we have
free teacher packets, we do as much as we can. We use Mailchimp all the time. It’s a great way to let people know what’s happening week by week, we can track who opens it, especially if
we’re sending out a big release with all of our exhibitions coming up. It’s easy to customize, it’s a great visual medium, that’s important for us as an art museum. It’s done a lot for us.
