Smarketer – using online marketing to empower the agency


My name is David Gabriel,
and I founded Smarketer in 2011. My goal was to become the leading
AdWords agency for the SME sector. I’ve worked in online marketing since 2006,
including as Head of Online Marketing at reBuy. It wasn’t my plan to start an agency. I started by helping out friends and people
I knew with Google AdWords on the side. I enjoyed it a lot,
and eventually one thing led to another. Online marketing is very dynamic.
The technology is becoming more complex, and users are expecting more – especially our
target group, mid-sized companies. They need expert support
to help them keep up. As part of the Google Partner programme, we were able
to take part in a business coaching seminar. The whole team received training
in customer communications. It was about how to introduce customers
to new Google products. Google Sales Masterclass was
organised especially for Google agencies. Lots of agencies have different business
models, especially when it comes to billing. The Google Grand Slam Challenge
is a competition for Google agencies. Two thousand Google partners took part.
At the end of the year there’s one overall winner. The overall winner gets to fly to Mountain View.
This year it’s Smarketer.
