If you’re a business owner then there’s two questions you should be asking in the new year. The first one is: have you built your marketing foundation? What is that? That’s including things such as your website, your logo, do you need to rebrand?… print materials like brochures or even your business card. Does it all have a concise look? That’s your marketing foundation. But, after it’s built, what’s next? That’s the second question you need to be asking. When you do something new in your marketing… you need to always be asking what’s next. What’s the next three months going to look like? What’s the next year going to look like? How are you going to drive traffic? How are you going to invite new customers to start working with you? And then also how are you going to nurture the current customer you have? All of the tactics used to achieve these things, that’s what marketing is. That’s when your marketing team it gets to be really creative and challenge their creative abilities. That’s when we at innovations get really excited. We get to brainstorm and riff off of each other and find ideas that really work for the target market. So here’s some things to remember. The first is marketing never stops. If you want to keep driving traffic to your business you can’t stop telling them what you do and why you do it. Secondly it’s different for every business. The guy next door is going to have a different target market than you so he’s going to have different tactics. Remember that when you’re thinking about marketing. Thirdly, creativity comes with a little bit of risk honestly, but that’s okay because you want to stand out from the businesses around you. So whether you need to be building your marketing foundation or asking what’s next, which, by the way, you should always be asking… the new year is a great place to start.
